Thursday, September 12, 2024 — MCLE Luncheon — Ariel J. Sabban, Esq.
ARIEL J. SABBAN will present “STRATEGIC LAWSUITS AGAINST PUBLIC PARTICIPATION (“SLAPP”),” in a program addressing SLAPP lawsuits, which plaintiffs often use strategically to silence their critics through litigation, and which abridge defendants’ constitutional rights of free speech and petition to government for redress of grievances. These types of lawsuits are subject to special procedural treatment by Code of Civil Procedure § 425.16 (the “anti-SLAPP” statute), and Ariel’s presentation will explore the procedural mechanism and updated requirements for bringing successful anti-SLAPP motions in California.
If you have not attended a lunchtime program since our move to the Living Room Coffee House & Bistro, please make it a point to do so. Our meeting room is separate from the main bistro area, and we have better seating visibility and audibility at this new location.
We hope that all of you can attend this 1.0 hr MCLE credit program.
Note: While this will be an “in-person” presentation, those of you unable to attend in-person may participate through Zoom meeting access with an advanced registration.
