La Jolla Bar Association MCLE Luncheon

The next lunch meeting of the La Jolla Bar Association will be on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 12:00 noon, at the Manhattan of La Jolla restaurant (within the Empress Hotel at 7766 Fay Avenue – at Fay & Silverado).

This will be our last lunchtime event of 2015, and next month will be our holiday party on the evening of Saturday, December 5th.  Particulars for the holiday party will be announced very soon, but please notate this event on your calendar for that evening.

We are pleased to have as our November MCLE speakers, Alessandra Serano and Andrew Haden, both of whom are Assistant United States Attorneys for the Southern District of California, who will present “Criminal Street Gangs and Sex Trafficking: a Growing Problem in San Diego”

Their presentation will address the reality of human as problem affecting every major city in the United States, including   San Diego, which ranks among the top ten worst cities in the United States for sex trafficking of children.   Ms. Serano and Mr. Haden will discuss the nature and scope of human trafficking, the deep involvement and financial interests of criminal street gangs with this illicit activity, its continuing growth and attractiveness to criminal enterprises, and the role of law enforcement agencies and the office of the United States Attorney in the investigation, prosecution and prevention/containment of these crimes, criminals and street gangs.
