La Jolla Bar Association, February 2017 MCLE Luncheon

Event placeholder

Our monthly MCLE lunchtime program will be Thursday, February 9th, at noon, at the Manhattan of La Jolla Restaurant (part of the Empress Hotel @ 7766 Fay Avenue).

Our speaker this month, MARC  D. ADELMAN, ESQ., is the former President of the State Bar of California  (1997-1998) and the San Diego County Bar Association (1989), and a Certified Legal Specialist in Legal Malpractice Law.  Mr. Adelman will present an MCLE program entitled Ethics of Fee Agreements and Client Intakes.  Mr. Adelman’s presentation will include, among other areas, a discussion of:

  1. The ethics of fee agreements and their essential terms.
  2. The importance of rejection letters.
  3. The importance of establishing strong, professional client relationships.
  4. What happens when client relations deteriorate.
  5. What to do if a client doesn’t pay attorney’s fees.
  6. Other areas that can trigger a legal malpractice claim, even for conscientious attorneys.

This presentation will provide 1.0 hour of MCLE credit, including 1.0 of the State Bar mandated area of Legal Ethics.  Mr. Adelman is a wonderful speaker and this is certain to be a well-attended event.  Based upon preliminary feedback, it might prove to be another “standing room only” presentation, so consider arriving a few minutes earlier than usual, if you able to do so.
