Their presentation, entitled “Short Term Rental Update 2021: What’s Happening in California?,”  will discuss short term rental regulations in effect in various cities throughout California, including the City of San Diego and the City’s proposed future restrictions that may be enacted.  Other issues addressed will include transient occupancy taxes, city audits, landlord and tenant issues and homeowner association enforcement.

The program will provide 1.0 hour MCLE credit, and we hope that all of you can attend.

Some Information about our speakers:

Ashley M. Peterson, ESQ.

Ashley Peterson is the owner of the Law Office of Ashley M. Peterson in San Diego, California.  Her practice specializes in real estate transactions including commercial and residential property purchases and sales, for sale by owner transactions, commercial and residential leases, easements, and short term rental regulations.  

Ms. Peterson is a current member of the executive committee of the California Lawyers Association Real Property Law Section and the San Diego County Bar Association Real Property Section.  She was named as one of the top 50 influential business leaders in San Diego by the Daily Transcript in 2017, and as a “Rising Star” in Real Estate by Super Lawyers every year from 2017 – 2020.

Kyle E. Yaege

Kyle Yaege is an Equity Partner with the law firm of Hickman Robinson Yaege, LLP in San Diego, California.

Mr. Yaege’s practice emphasis includes the legal representation of property owners, developers, lenders, contractors and business owners in both transactional and litigation matters.  

Mr. Yaege has acted as litigation counsel in subject areas including commercial real estate leasing and evictions, real estate title and foreclosure litigation, professional license compliance and administrative claims defense, corporate ownership and control disputes, and collections litigation (including levy and execution, as well as commercial and individual bankruptcy claims),  

He has as outside general counsel to numerous real estate brokerage, construction, and retail businesses providing legal advice in the areas of entity formation, contract negotiations and drafting, commercial leasing, product distribution, intellectual property, purchase and sale, M&A, and independent contractor and employment agreements.  

Prior to joining the Robinson & Hickman firm, Mr. Yaege was Senior Associate and litigation counsel with Galuppo & Blake, A.P.L.C. in  Carlsbad, California, where he acted as litigation counsel to Fortune 500 institutions in the area of loan liquidation and collections in the areas of bankruptcy, receivership, and foreclosure throughout the Southwest United States; and acted as litigation counsel with focus on commercial leasing, collections, real property ownership and title, and premises liability.   During this period, Mr. Yaege also acted as outside general counsel for regional real estate brokerage, construction, property management, and property development businesses, with emphasis on the areas of professional license compliance and defense, entity formation and operations, and human resources.   

Mr. Yaege established Yaege Law, A.P.C. in San Diego, California following receipt of a Juris Doctorate in 2006 from California Western SOL (Honors: Am. Jur. Labor Law/Real Property 2. Dean’s Honor Roll Awards).  During this early period of litigation practice, he focused on areas of commercial leasing, residential real estate purchase transactions, administrative claims prosecution and defense in real estate, healthcare, and nursing, premises liability, professional malpractice, and employment (FEHA, ADA, and OSHA).

Mr. Yaege has been recognized for his professional acoomplishments, including the San Diego Daily Transcript “Top Attorneys” Award (2015) “Top Young Attorneys” Award (2013), (2014). Super Lawyers “Rising Star” 2015, 2016.   

He is also licensed in California as a Real Estate Broker (2007 – Present).
