Edward P. Schlesier, Board Certified Specialist: Estates, Trusts & Probate, and partner with Blanchard, Krasner & French, A Professional Corporation, will present:
“IRA Planning After the SECURE ACT“
The SECURE ACT (the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act of 2019), triggered significant changes to laws governing Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and other retirement plans (e.g., 401(k) plans), which changes impact many aspects of retirement, tax, estate planning.
Ed will discuss these changes, including topics such as: retirement account contribution age limits; Qualified Charitable Distributions – including QCDs limitations and constraints; changes to age limits for taking required minimum distributions from an IRA, and how this can differ from required distributions from ERISA plans.
Among other topics, Ed will also address the SECURE ACT’s accelerated time period for after death distributions from retirement accounts inherited by designated beneficiaries, and how that period can differ depending upon the type of beneficiary. ln general, Ed will discuss several considerations and situations of how this Act’s provisions have altered retirement, tax, and estate planning.
This is certain to be an informative program, and will provide 1.0 hour of MCLE credit to participants.
