July 10, 2014 MCLE Luncheon, Topic: Appellate Law, by Robert H. Lynn, Esq.
The La Jolla Bar Association (LJBA), is an approved MCLE provider, and holds monthly luncheons of its members on the second Thursday of each month, except in August and December, which are reserved for the LJBA Summer Beach Party and the LJBA Holiday Party, respectively.
The MCLE luncheons are currently held at Manhattan restaurant in the historic Empress Hotel on Fay Avenue in downtown La Jolla, commencing at noon.
- Members of the LJBA may attend at no cost, other than the cost of lunch (which they are expected to purchase).
- Non-members may attend for a $20 charge plus the cost of their lunch.
The July 10, 2014 MCLE luncheon will feature a presentation by Robert H. Lynn, who will talk about appeals and appellate issues.
Robert H. Lynn has served the San Diego community for over 35 years. Mr. Lynn is an accomplished attorney and a longtime community activist, having received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and a Juris Doctor from the California Western School of Law. Mr. Lynn has taught advanced legal writing as an Adjunct Professor at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and has served as a Judge Pro Tem in the Small Claims Division of the San Diego Superior Court.
Mr. Lynn’s practice focuses on appellate and trial litigation and general business and real estate law. His appellate work has included Lawson v. Kolender before the U.S. Supreme Court, a case involving the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and which is now taught in law schools across the country. Prior to attending law school, Lynn served for seven years in the United State Navy. During his legal career, he has served on the board of directors for the American Civil Liberties Union of San Diego County, the Greater San Diego Business Association, the San Diego LGBT Community Center, the California Human Rights Advocates and the Whitman-Radcliffe Foundation.
Mr. Lynn’s awards and recognition have included two Greater San Diego Business Awards, a Tom Homann Law Association Service Award, and recognition as a San Diego Lambda Archives “Heroes, Pioneers and Trailblazers” Honoree. He is the founder of the San Diego Democratic Club and has worked with the San Diego County Health Services Advisory Board, the United Way Program Review panel, the San Diego Coalition for Human Rights, and the Lawyer’s Club of San Diego. He currently sits on the Conference of Delegates of the State Bar of California Resolutions Committee, and is an active member of the Tom Homann Law Association.
