DESCRIPTION:LA JOLLA BAR ASSOCIATION SUMMER PARTY \nAgain this year\, our LJBA summer party will be a beach barbeque picnic at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club* on \nFriday\, August 1\, 2014\, beginning at 4:30 p.m. \n  \nWe will congregate at the far north end of the beach in front of the Club\, in the section marked “X.” \nTables will be set up and our location will be marked with a table sign. \n  \nLJBA will provide soft drinks\, wine\, beer\, ice\, hors d’oeuvres\, side dishes and dessert for all; \nand tables\, chairs\, charcoal\, barbeques\, etc. \n  \nYou are requested to bring a main course for you and your guest and children–meat\, fish \nor whatever entree you wish to barbeque; AND warm clothes for socializing after sunset and when \nthe weather has a habit of turning chilly and/or damp at the beach. \n  \nAttendance is limited to two adults per member (i.e.\,the member and one significant other)\, \nplus children and grandchildren of the member.  Advance reservations for all\, and payment of adult \nguest fees ($10.00 for each adult) are a must.  La Jolla Bar Association will cover the Beach Club \nfees for children up to 19 years of age. Lynn\, who will talk about appeals and appellate issues. \nRobert H. Lynn has served the San Diego community for over 35 years. Mr. Lynn is an accomplished attorney and a longtime community activist\, having received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and a Juris Doctor from the California Western School of Law. Mr. Lynn has taught advanced legal writing as an Adjunct Professor at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law\, and has served as a Judge Pro Tem in the Small Claims Division of the San Diego Superior Court.  \nMr. Lynn’s practice focuses on appellate and trial litigation and general business and real estate law.  His appellate work has included Lawson v. Kolender before the U.S. Supreme Court\, a case involving the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and which is now taught in law schools across the country. Prior to attending law school\, Lynn served for seven years in the United State Navy.  During his legal career\, he has served on the board of directors for the American Civil Liberties Union of San Diego County\, the Greater San Diego Business Association\, the San Diego LGBT Community Center\, the California Human Rights Advocates and the Whitman-Radcliffe Foundation. \nMr. Lynn’s awards and recognition have included two Greater San Diego Business Awards\, a Tom Homann Law Association Service Award\, and recognition as a San Diego Lambda Archives “Heroes\, Pioneers and Trailblazers” Honoree. He is the founder of the San Diego Democratic Club and has worked with the San Diego County Health Services Advisory Board\, the United Way Program Review panel\, the San Diego Coalition for Human Rights\, and the Lawyer’s Club of San Diego. He currently sits on the Conference of Delegates of the State Bar of California Resolutions Committee\, and is an active member of the Tom Homann Law Association. \n
