Sabraw\, Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California\, who will provide our members with an “Update on the California Southern District Court.” \nThis presentation will provide 1.0 hour MCLE general credit. \n  \nSome Information About Our Speaker:\nHON. DANA M. SABRAW\, Judge\nUnited States District Court for the Southern District of California \nFederal Judicial Service: \nJudge\, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California Nominated by POTUS George W. Bush on May 1\, 2003\, to a new seat authorized by 116 Stat. 1758. Confirmed by the Senate on September 25\, 2003\, and received commission on September 26\, 2003. \nJudge Sabraw served as Chief Judge of the Court from January 22\, 2021 to January 22\, 2025. \nEducation: \nAmerican River Junior College\, A.A.\, 1978\nSan Diego State University\, B.S.\, 1980\nUniversity of the Pacific\, McGeorge School of Law\, J.D.\, 1985 \nEarlier Professional Career: \nPrivate practice\, Santa Barbara\, California\, 1985-1989 \nPrivate practice\, San Diego\, California\, 1989-1995 \nJudge\, San Diego [California] North County Municipal Court\, 1995-1998 \nJudge\, Superior Court of California\, County of San Diego\, 1998-2003 \nAdditional Information about Judge Sabraw: \nJudge Dana Makoto Sabraw was appointed to the United States District Court in 2003. He served as Chief Judge from January 22\, 2021 to January 22\, 2025. He received his undergraduate degree with distinction from San Diego State University\, and thereafter attended McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific\, where he graduated in 1985 in the top 10% of his class and served on the Law Review. Before his appointment\, Judge Sabraw practiced law as a commercial litigator with Baker & McKenzie in San Diego\, becoming a partner in 1992. In 1995\, he was appointed to San Diego’s North County Municipal Court. He served as Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court until his elevation to the Superior Court in 1998\, where he served as Criminal Supervising Judge and as a criminal and civil trial judge until his appointment to the federal bench. As a trial lawyer and judge\, Judge Sabraw has tried more than 300 cases to verdict. \nJudge Sabraw was appointed by the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court to serve as a member of the U.S. Judicial Conference Committee on the Judicial Branch\, and he was appointed by the Director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts to serve as a member of the Judicial Security and Independence Task Force. He has been active in a number of professional organizations. Among these\, he is a founding member and past president of two American Inns of Court (Lopardo and Wallace Inn Chapters)\, and current member\, and past board member\, of the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego. He also serves on the founding committee of “Just the Beginning—A Pipeline Organization.” He is a frequent speaker at law and community related events on judicial independence and the rule of law. \nHe has received numerous awards from the community and bar associations\, including Person of the Year by the San Diego Union Tribune editorial board (2018)\, Outstanding Jurist by the San Diego County Bar Association (2019)\, Judge of the Year by La Raza Lawyers Association of San Diego (2019)\, Humanitarian of the Year by Casa Cornelia Law Center(2019)\, Judge of the Year by Consumer Trial Attorneys of San Diego (2019)\, and the Bernard E. Witkin Award for Excellence in the Adjudication of the Law (2023). WOLFE\, Wolfe Legal Solutions PC\, who will address our members on:  “REPORTING REQUIREMENTS FOR LAWYERS UNDER RPC 8.3”\n \nMs. Wolfe\, a Certified Legal Specialist (“CLS”) in both Legal Malpractice Law (State Bar of California)\, and Civil Trial Law (National Board of Trial Advocates)\, will discuss the specifics of this Rule of Professional Conduct which took effect August 2023.  RPC 8.3 requires a lawyer to report certain types of conduct by other lawyers to the State Bar\, and it is essential that you understand this Rule to avoid its potential ethical landmines.\n \nWe hope that all of you can attend this 1.0 hour ETHICS MCLE credit program.\n\nSome Information About Our Speaker\, Doborah A Wolfe:\nDeborah Wolfe is an experienced trial attorney who has served on and chaired the State Bar of California Legal Malpractice Law Advisory Commission\, is a member of ABOTA\, has served on the Lawyers Club Board\, and the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego Board\, including serving as the CASD president. DESCRIPTION:Please calendar our upcoming MCLE lunchtime program on Thursday\, April 9\, 2026 at 12:00pm\, at the Living Room Coffeehouse & Bistro\, 1205 Prospect Street in La Jolla. \nWe are very pleased to have attorney John W. Hanson as our April speaker. Mr. Hanson is a longstanding member of our association\, and practices exclusively in the area of consumer law. \nOur speaker will draw upon his 25+ years experience representing clients in litigation with car dealerships and car warranty providers\, in presenting to our members  “Consumer Law: Car Sales and Warranty Repairs\,” in which he will focus on consumer protection laws and the practice of consumer law in two areas: (1) consumer manipulation and abusive tactics by dealerships during car purchase transactions; and (2) automobile defects and the remedies and limitations of California’s lemon law.  Mr. Hanson will also discuss how attorneys can assist their clients (and themselves) on how to save thousands of dollars and avoid becoming victim to both car sales practices and warranty company “run-arounds.” \nMr. Hanson last presented on these topics to our members during 2019\,  in a very informative and well-received program.  Since that time\, important statutory changes and case law developments have taken place which our speaker will discuss.  Mr. Hanson will also cover new information pertinent to navigating through landmines and traps that commonly present in car purchase transactions by consumers. \nWe appreciate Mr. Hanson’s willingness to again share his knowledge and expertise on these topics with our members through this updated presentation. \nThis presentation will provide 1.0 hour general MCLE credit\, and we hope that all of you will participate in this program. \n  \nSome Information about our Speaker\, John W.
