Hugh Friedman Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law \nThursday\, November 10\, 2022\n12:00 pm via Zoom meeting\n  \nWe are very pleased to have ROBERT A. SCHAPIRO\, Dean and  C. Hugh Friedman Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law\, as our speaker for this event\, presenting: “Two Momentous Terms: United States Supreme Court Review and Update” to include discussion of:   \n\nHistoric decisions of the 2021-2022 Supreme Court Term on abortion\, gun rights\, and religion\, among other issues;  and\nUpcoming cases with potentially broad impact relating to affirmative action\, elections\, and LGBTQ rights\, among other topics\n\n  \nThe presentation is anticipated to be of 60 minute duration\, and will provide 1.0 hour MCLE credit to participants.  \n\nInformation about Our Speaker:\nRobert A. Schapiro is Dean and C. Hugh Friedman Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale College\, Master of Arts from Stanford University\, and Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School University\, at which he served as editor-in-chief of the Yale Law Journal. Dean Schapiro clerked for Justice John Paul Stevens of the U.S. Supreme Court and for Judge Pierre N. Leval of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. \nDean Schapiro’s expertise and teaching focus on the areas of Civil Procedure\, Constitutional Law\, and Federal Courts. Prior to becoming Dean at the USD School of Law\, he was Dean of Emory University School of Law and Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Law and Co-Director of Emory School of Law’s Center on Federalism and Intersystemic Governance. Prior to becoming Dean at Emory\, he served as associate vice provost for academic affairs\, associate dean of faculty for the law school\, and as associate faculty director for Emory’s Halle Institute for Global Learning. \nDean Schapiro is an internationally recognized scholar of federalism\, and has received numerous awards\, including the Emory Williams Distinguished Teaching Award for excellence in graduate education\, the Ben F. Johnson Faculty Excellence Award\, Most Outstanding Professor from the Emory Student Bar Association\, and Professor of the Year from the Emory Law School Black Law Students Association.
