April 2019 MCLE Luncheon at Manhattan Restaurant

Please calendar this week’s MCLE lunchtime program on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 12:00 pm at the Manhattan of La Jolla restaurant (within the Empress Hotel at 7766 Fay Avenue).   

We are very pleased to have MICHAEL DULLEA, Vice President and Western Region Underwriting Counsel for Title Resources Guaranty Corporation, a member of Realogy/TRG (RLGY:NYSE), returning as a speaker for our April lunch meeting.  Mr. Dullea will present “TOP 50 CALIFORNIA LEGISLATIVE AND CASE LAW CHANGES AFFECTING REAL ESTATE FOR 2019”

Mr. Dullea’s presentation will summarize recent legislation and major cases impacting real property law, and will also include discussion of topics such as “Heggstad” petitions and related current issues triggered by the California State Board of Equalization, and by Local County Assessors.

Mr. Dullea frequently presents and teaches on areas of real property law and title insurance, and his presentations, programs and courses are always informative and well-received.

Information about our Speaker, Michael E. Dullea:

Michael E. Dullea is Vice President, Western Region Underwriting Counsel, Title Resources Guaranty Company, a member firm of Realogy/TRG (RLGY:NYSE). 

After serving in the US Navy, Mr. Dullea received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and received his Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law (formerly Western States University) in San Diego. 

Mr. Dullea has served as Vice President and National Commercial Underwriting Counsel with another national underwriter. There his responsibilities included handling National and Regional complex title underwriting projects involving Commercial, Energy, Home Builder projects. He also served as Counsel for National Default Operation, the Timeshare Division, and the National Agency Division. 

Beginning his career in the title insurance industry in 1971 he has held positions as Southern California Regional Counsel supervising and managing Title and Escrow Claims and Litigation Departments in Southern California; and, as California Underwriting Counsel engaged in all areas of real estate law including Title Insurance Underwriting, Escrow, Lender Transactions, Foreclosures, Commercial Projects, and Common Interest Developments.

As a College Instructor, Mr. Dullea has taught Courses in Real Estate Law, Real Estate Finance, Escrow, Business Law, and Management and Economics and Legal Research courses at the various colleges and universities including University of Redlands, UCSD Extension, and in Community Colleges. He has also taught Online Courses at Southwestern College as a Certified Online Instructor, as well as in the Classroom. He has extensive speaking and writing experience in the Legal Profession and in the Real Estate industry. 

He is active in the California State Bar Real Property Section where he is Advisor to the State Bar Real Property Journal and has served as Advisor and past Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the Section and currently on the Ca State Bar Real Property Law Section Journal Advisory Board. He serves as Board Member of Noah’s Ark Angel Foundation, and is former President and Director of Noah Homes, Inc. a non-profit organization providing housing and programs for developmentally disabled adults. Mr. Dullea has also served as Member and Advisor with the University of San Diego Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate. 

Mr. Dullea is past President and Director of the Law Library Justice Foundation in San Diego, and past President and Director of the Thomas More Society. He also served as Past Chair of the San Diego Bar Association Real Property Section, and as a Member of the California Land Title Association Forms and Practices Committee.
