David S. Casey, Jr. is a third-generation attorney. He joined his late father, David S. Casey, Sr. at his firm, CaseyGerry in 1976 after working as a prosecutor for the San Diego City Attorney’s office.
David leads the firm in obtaining multi-million dollar results each year in a complex range of cases such as the Volkswagen Emissions scandal in which David was appointed to the national Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee overseeing litigation. The case was resolved for $14.7 billion, one of the biggest corporate settlements in history. In addition, he successfully represented the family of baseball legend, Tony Gwynn against U.S. Tobacco, and the family of Jr. Seau against the National Football League.

David has been lauded with more than 100 professional awards including a perpetual award in his honor, the “David S. Casey, Jr. Consumer Advocate Award” from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. He has been inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the International Society of Barristers. In 2020, David was inducted as a Master to the Wallace Inn Court.
Recently, David was honored with, the 2019 Hughes McClenahan award for civility in the practice of law by the San Diego Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the highest honor for San Diego legal practitioners; the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award by the University of San Diego. In 2020, he received his 10th recognition as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal, and one of the state’s Top 30 Plaintiff Attorneys by the same publication. He is AVVO rated, a San Diego Super Lawyers 2007-2020, a Best Lawyer 2006-2020, and many more.
In 2020, David served as Co-Chair for the University of San Diego’s Class Action 2-day seminar which brought together Federal and State Judges and national practitioners in the class action and complex litigation arena.
Also, in 2020, as a response to the impact of COVID-19 on the San Diego court system, David, among other lawyers and retired judges in the community launched Resolve Law San Diego (RLSD), a program designed to assist with the backlog of cases experienced by the courts.
