ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The focus of my family law practice is conflict resolution and mediation.  I work with couples and families to get them through the divorce process gently and affordably, with the goal of successfully rebuilding their lives and being able to move on.  I act either as consulting attorney for one party, or as the mediator working with both parties. I no longer do litigation.

The conflict resolution model is different from the litigated, contested divorce.  It is more cost-effective and considerably less contentious, resulting in satisfied clients, better outcomes for children, and an established framework for a cooperative co-parenting relationship in the years ahead.  I love what I do, as a result.

I write about divorce for Huffington Post and on my blog, LemonadeDivorce.com.

My law partner (and husband) is John Thickstun.  His civil litigation practice focuses mainly on complex business litigation and serious personal injury.  We live in La Jolla with our two teenagers. John was born in La Jolla and is a lifetime resident who attended La Jolla Elementary, Muirlands Middle, La Jolla High School and UCSD.  I am a transplant from San Francisco who moved to La Jolla 18 years ago when John made me the offer I couldn’t refuse.

We also run a small granola business, La Jolla Granola Company, Inc., with our teen kids.
