The La Jolla Bar Association hosted its annual Holiday Party, which was held at the La Jolla Community Center on La Jolla Boulevard on Saturday night, December 5th.  A delicious buffet dinner was served, prepared by our own Glen Rasmussen and the great staff at the Community Center.  Each member brought a dessert.  In fact, we had enough desserts to last the entire Holiday season!

Members also brought unwrapped toys to donate to the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program.  We were honored to have three combat veteran Marines attend our event to collect the toys and enjoy a delicious dinner.  Captain Dean Reguindin was the officer-in-charge, accompanied by Corporal Holmes and Sergeant Mendez.

The new slate of officers and the board of directors was also elected.  The members welcomed Don Lincoln as our President for 2016 and thanked our outgoing President, Bob Moldenhauer, for his tireless efforts on behalf of us all.  The 2016 officers are:  Don Lincoln, President; George Hurley, Vice President; Michael Dershowitz, Secretary; Abigail Stephenson, Treasurer; and Bob Moldenhauer, Immediate Past President.  The 2016 directors are: Shirleymae Davis; Scott Schaller; Maurile Tremblay; Elsa Carré; Virginia Gaburo; Paul Neuharth; Ariel Sabban; and Ed Schlesier.

The members were particularly impressed with the renovations to the La Jolla Community Center, thanks in large part to the efforts of Glen and Marilyn Rasmussen and the staff at the Community Center.

The La Jolla Community Center offers a wide range of learning, wellness and friendship activities, such as art appreciation classes, yoga classes, health seminars, cooking classes (to name just a few),and hosts community events such as our Holiday party.  Check out their website at ljcommunitycenter.org.
